Project Detail
Cirrus was engaged to assist a customer with an apparent engine failure on a J620 genset which was operating in remote Australia.
The engine was transported to Cirrus’s workshop facility for stripping and condition reporting relating to the issue.
After analysis, it was decided that the most effective solution was to purchase a base motor (block, Crank and Gear Train) and utilise and recondition the components from the failed engine where possible to rebuild the unit. After delivery of the new Base Motor, the completed reconditioning and build was performed in a matter of weeks, before returning to site.
When a customer has multiple units operating on a power station, there is usually a redundancy of power as a reduction of risk of being left with a short supply of power.
The approach to supply a base motor and utilise the reconditioned and reusable parts from the outgoing engine is a strategy which can significantly reduce cost and assist in managing the life cycle of the engine.
Reconditioning engines with Cirrus Power Systems comes with the additional benefit of working with experts in all aspects of engine reconditioning and servicing including the machining of componentry, reporting, parts, engine building and servicing.
This streamlines the after sales and support of our customer’s assets. We stand by our products!
